The reviews we read had us leery of Ermilio's yet our guides assured us it was a good eatery. Don't be fooled by the poor reviews - this is an excellent restaurant with good quality food, very reasonable prices, and excellent service. Specific comments in reverse order: Our server, Allen, was an absolute pleasure - He made our dining experience terrific -- well done young man! The prices are terrific - 6.95 and 8.95 for artichoke hearts and calamari respectively; entrees cost on average $13 each for 4 people. The hot bread and butter accompanied by roasted garlic was unique and excellent - and we were treated to seconds because it was so good! The appetizers were good, and every one of our entrees were very good. The featured Italian wine was well described by our server and was pleasurable, and our desserts were all excellent, including the fresh brewed coffee to accompany those treats. My wife and I are used to fine dining in Oregon -- we wish we could take Ermilio's home with us! Sure - I've had a little better Italian food in Boston's Little Italy - but paid nearly double for the experience! Ermilio's is a very good restaurant that does what it does superbly.

Impromptu drive all the way from Bentonville for this. Loved the feel of the place. They have an interesting variety of wines, beers and a really nice patio to sit.The food is just average though. Was expecting something more authentic as the name suggests, but if you do visit Eureka Springs you should try it!

Oh My! What great food and the service was EXCELLENT! We were told that this was the place to eat and let me tell you, GO HUNGRY. The portions were very big, served hot and best of all the service was the best. Josh our server was helpful with other places to visit while were were there. Not only did we get a great meal, it was priced just right. The house is so cool inside with pictures of the past almost makes you feel like you are at Grandma's house and she is in the kitchen. I would have eaten there every night if my group would have let me!

Wow! This was the best dinner we've had in quite some time. My wife was excited for Italian and I was craving a steak. We settled on Ermilio's and they did not disappoint. I lucked out that their nightly special happened to be my favorite cut of steak, ribeye, and it was absolutely incredible. I honestly don't think I've ever, in my life, had a better steak. It was perfectly sessoned, amazingly cooked, topped with a mix of garlic butter and mushroom pesto. My wife had the gorgonzola cream sauce over the fettuccine. The waitress suggested adding a bit of pesto to her meal as well and that helped put this dish over the top. Also, I should mention that they give you fresh roasted garlic with the bread and have a very good fresh parmesean cheese grater on every table. By far, our best dining experience here in Eureka Springs, and one of the best we've had anywhere! Thank You Ermilio's! We'll be back!

Came highly recommended by the local residents - located in what seems to have been a home at the top of the hill. The waiting area is equipped with a wide selection of games and time wasters, along with a small bar serving beer, wine, and simple cocktails. The food was quite good, however, nothing especially outstanding as far as Italian restaurants go. The dining rooms felt warm and welcoming, decorated with old pictures of the town and it's inhabitants (avoid the room near the kitchen doors, if possible). The best part of dinner was probably the roasted garlic that came with bread - the caprese salad was not as impressive with the mozzarella and tomato sliced too thinly. Dinner was quite good but standard Italian fare.

Worth the 30 min wait on a Sunday nite. Courteous and attentive service, simple salad, good food at a reasonable price. Not a pretentious place, but fresh pasta and plenty of it. Not great but as good as it gets for a family meal in a resort like Eureka Springs.

Very authentic for the simple home style. Not a big wine selection but the food is well executed. A favorite with the locals. Gets crowded early.

This is a letter I sent the manager.... My husband and I were on our honeymoon this past week and we enjoyed a great dinner at your restaurant. Unfortunately, we had a very rude waitress who kind of ruined our evening. I usually never complain but I feel I need to say something about this waitress to a superior. We visited on Thursday, June 21,2012 and stayed until closing. I didn't get our waitress' name because she never brought us a ticket. My boss called in a $100.00 gift certificate that she claimed wasn't there. I told her it would depend on the GC amount for what we were going to order, she went to check on the GC, came back and rudely said there was no GC waiting for us and walked away. I had to call my boss to ask about a gift...how awkward!!! The GC was called in at 2pm. I was there to eat at 5:30pm. Someone dropped the ball. We ordered shrimp provincale, pasta with gorgonzola sauce , a bottle of 38$ wine and an appetizer I can't remember what it was, maybe mushrooms. When we were finished eating and ready to go she said, "you're all taken care of your GC came through it was $100.00" (we would have liked to have seen it) and "the rest would be a tip." She presumed the rest was for her, and by all means she was not worth a $20.00 tip. I'm so annoyed that I had to call my boss, I was treated rudely by this woman, and then she presumed she deserved the leftover GC money. I plan to tell everyone I know about my experience and I will not be back. It's unfortunate because the food was fabulous and the restaurant is beautiful, but the service was very bad.

The location is nice, it's in an old quaint house in the middle of eureka residences. We went on a Friday night so there an hour wait but you can have a drink at the bar upstairs and chill on the porch or walk down a few houses and check out a cool antique shop open until 9 pm. The menu is simple and very good. I had the ricotta ravioli with shrimp a la provencale for entree and shared the mussels for appetizer, they are delicious. Nice cozy restaurant and not too expensive.

Ermilio's was by far my best meal of the weekend. I came here on a Thursday around 8pm with my wife, which worked out well because there was no wait! Our waitress was a local who was extremely friendly, and very helpful in trying to get us to narrow down our choices. Her wine recommendation was on point, as my wife loved it (also being filled to the brim might have been bonus points). The roasted garlic served with the fresh Italian bread is something I've never seen done in a restaurant before. Some people eat the garlic plain, some smash it onto the bread, some mix it up to make a garlic-butter spread for the bread our waitress told us. I opted to smash it into some butter to make a garlic-butter spread and boy was it tasty! That may be my new favorite thing to do when serving Italian food. Entree selection was hard .. but I finally decided on Ermilio's Pan Roasted Pork Chop. WOW. This was honestly the best pork chop I've ever had from a restaurant. It was literally cooked to perfection, was a huge size (not all bone like some other restaurants) and the porcini mushroom demi-glaze was a perfect pairing to it. The pasta with tomato basil sauce that comes as a default side was okay ... nothing to write home about in my book. You can change the side for $3, which I think is a little ridiculous because pasta is pasta, but I digress. A must stop at restaurant whether you're just driving through, staying for a day or a staying a whole week (god bless your soul, I don't think there's enough things to do in this small town for more than a weekend).

I had spinach fettuccine Alfredo. It was sublime. Paired with salad with house dressing, and a nice glass of Cabernet. The wait was only thirty minutes (it was a Tuesday) and it went by fast lounging on the deck with the other tourists. A larger group gave up and left after ten minutes of waiting. Their loss!

We came here on a Friday night around 8:00 and got seated right away. Our waitress was very friendly and had great recommendations for our meals. I started with a glass of wine and my husband got a beer. My wine was filled to the top!!! Score! Before your meal, they bring out bread with fresh marinated garlic. The waitress recommending crushing the garlic and mixing it with butter and the fresh Parmesan on the table to spread on the bread. Wow was it good!! I've never seen that before at an Italian restaurant. I ordered the Tuscan chicken pasta and my husband got the pork chop. Both meals came with side salads ( I recommend the pesto dressing). My pasta was great. The sauce tasted like Alfredo, but it's texture was lighter so I didn't feel so guilty eating it, although I finished it all!! My husband 's pork chop was so tender!! It cut like butter. I didn't even know a pork chop could cook so well!! It also came with a side of pasta and mushrooms. After dinner we were stuffed, but of course we ordered dessert. We got the chocolate mouse cake. The cake was ok. Nothing to brag about, but the bomb.com "garlic" bread made up for it!

From the moment we walked in the door from the icy cold, we felt we were in the perfect place. There is an upstairs waiting room with a small wine and beer bar, but it also has several games to play to pass the time while we waited (45 min wait). We played "Apples to Oranges" and pulled in another family, whom we'd never met, and had a great time. We were almost disappointed when we were called to our table...Almost. Seating is in close quarters as this was a home refurbished Into a restaurant, but we were comfortable. It was a beautiful home. The bread and garlic was amazing and plentiful. Our food...I had the salmon, and it melted in my mouth (I was melting too)! In all, excellent service, superb atmosphere, incredible food. I can't wait to go back in the spring!

For Eureka Springs, Ermillio's is good italian food. The locals enjoy it, which means it has to be somewhat decent. Positives - Warm Bread with roasted garlic Very simple salad with awesome vinaigrette salad dressing. Cozy dining room allows for interesting conversations to be overheard Prices are about average for Eureka Springs Upstairs bar is unique Service is great Negatives - No reservations Wine list is bleh Food is just OK. Cash bar only upstairs I will eat here again. If you're looking for Italian food, or a good date spot, hit up Ermillio's.

We were seated at the table with another couple because they were busy. I think this couple may have been on a first date. It made them more uncomfortable the it did us but either way, it was about the worst thing a restaurant can do. We chatted on and they sat quietly. $100 + later we felt like the experience did not match up to what we spent and we won't be back. The food was ok but there are too many choices in town where you get your own table.

The best Chicken Marsala that I have ever had. The side salad and pasta were outstanding as well. We went with the Italian cream cake for dessert and we enjoyed that thoroughly. Do yourself a favor and get there early. We arrived at 6:30 and we only had to wait 15 minutes to be seated. On the other hand, the groups that arrived after 7 were told that they would have to wait an hour and a half to be seated. The atmosphere to this place was singular, like most places in Eureka. Honestly, on the surface this feels like a place that you would have to pay top dollar to enjoy a meal at, but that simply isn't the case. They offer big portions at a great value. This was my favorite meal in our three day trip to Eureka.

Recommended to my husband and me by our inn keeper. Thursday night, no wait for seating. Nice little crowd in quaint converted Victorian. We enjoyed the Calimari, unbreaded, tender in a nice sauce. Complimentary warm bread was quite good. Our server and entire waitstaff was attentive but not overbearing. Server was outstanding, clearly watching our table to ensure we were ready for the next course before bringing it to our table. House salad with in house prepared blue cheese dressing was fresh and dressing was very much to my liking, but not so for my husband. We both had pasta dishes. Nice option to pick your sauce and the type of pasta with which it's mixed. Frankly would have been a 5 star rating but the sauces were essentially average and my linguini was a bit overcooked. All in all, highly recommend this experience.

This is my overall favorite restaurant in Eureka Springs. It has excellent authentic Italian food served in a clean, welcoming environment. The restaurant is an old house, which gives it a unique atmosphere. There is usually a long wait - but for good reason: It's popular and good. On my recent visit we were told there would be an hour wait. In actuality it was about 45 minutes. The good thing about the wait time is that there is a nice upstairs lounge and bar area with comfortable seating as well as a nice deck outside. The waiting area has several games, such as trivial pursuit. Our wait flew by as we sipped on martinis and played trivia games. Once seated, the service is quick, attentive, and prompt. The eggplant parmasan is out of this world!

    - friendly staff and a really nice atmosphere. This would be a great place to take friend or business associates. - food is very tasty and filling - location is about 1 block from the main drag so it's easy to get to. - small parking lot. - outside waitin

The food was pretty good as was the portion size. Felt like the seating was a bit cramped. The tiramisu was way overpriced for the portion size and was just ok.

A place with authentic Italian cuisine in the middle of Midwest. When we went there with my SO, from the advice of the Lookout Lodge owner, we weren't really expecting anything exceptional. However, when we arrived there, we realized that we smelled a smell we haven't smelled in a long, long time; actually since we last went to Italy: the smell of an authentic Italian cuisine. After some waiting (apparently a busy night can get you an hour and a half of waiting time), we went in and weren't decieved. The taste is hard to describe with words, I could but wonder how they managed to pull such a good of a cooking without the market and Italian products. A true wonder and a must-taste. They might even made it into michelin's guide if it covered Eureka Springs.

Came in on Valentine's Day expecting a wait. Just as we thought, it was 3 hours but we hadn't made reservations anywhere else and decided to wait it out. Luckily, this place is built for long wait times! There is an upstairs bar and board games to play while you wait. Drinks were a little pricey but they had $20 wine by the bottle we did for our second round. Everyone in this town is here for a good time and despite being the youngest people in the room by several years we had a great time waiting and doing trivia. Once we were seated we could tell they were prepared for hungry people who had been waiting. Bread showed up almost instantly and he had our appetizer order in in under 5 minutes. The waiter was polite, efficient, and very knowledgeable about the menu. The food was delicious! The clam sauce came with clams still in the shell and my spinach fettuccini was very fresh. My fiancé had tortellini with tomato basil and everything was great for him as well.

One hour wait on a Sunday night but it's understandable due to Labor Day weekend. And then we were seated. Quick service from a very friendly waitress, who we found out later makes the desserts. Lasagna was one of the specials which is my favorite. My wife asked for a special order of pesto and Alfredo mixed on linguini. My son had spaghetti with tomato basil sauce. Salad and bread came out first and were great. Italian vinegarette for me and Caesar for the wife. Cheesecake for dessert was amazing! Our family recommends this place!

We had to wait an hour and a half but it was great food with good service. All staff was very friendly and thanked us for waiting. Once seated our good arrived promptly. Excellent stuffed mushrooms. The food was hot and fresh

The food was divine!!! Having grown up in NJ around the best food, I'm very picky with Italian & this was amazing Italian cooking! We ordered the spaghetti & the Alfredo tortellini, the Alfredo won! The service was a little slow and the place was quite crowded. Took 40 min to seat a party of 2, but when we went back in to check our seating status, our name had been crossed off without them calling our names. The son working there says that was not the first time that's happened. Definitely going back for that food!!!

We've been hearing about Ermilio's for quite some time now. Every time we go to Eureka Springs we are asked, "Did you eat at Ermilio's?" This past weekend, my husband and I took an anniversary trip and finally are able to say that YES, we ate at Ermilio's. And not only that, we LOVED it. It was about 8pm on a Saturday night, and the wait was about an hour long. We actually expected this and were fine about it. They do have a bar/lounge upstairs with an assortment of board games (both adult and children - Candyland, anyone?) to help pass the time. The restaurant itself is in an old house, so I'm almost certain their upstairs lounge used to be a children's playroom at some point. Finally we got our table. We got the little room right next to the kitchen doors and loud espresso machine. Not the best place to be seated, but we were in a pretty good mood. They bring out a nice loaf of crusty bread and a bowl of roasted garlic cloves which was something different. I've never smashed a garlic clove and spread it on bread before at any other restaurant, so I thought that was a pretty unique touch. For appetizers, we wanted the mussels but they were sold out so we settled for the sauteed artichoke hearts. This was the only bummer of the whole evening. I guess I expected more from this dish. It was lukewarm, and while I don't know if that was intentional or not, I think it would've tasted better hot. Actually now that I read back over the menu online it says it "served hot" so there ya go. We had much better luck with the entrees. I chose the spinach and ricotta stuffed ravioli with tomato basil sauce. These raviolis were huge, super tender and extremely flavorful. I wanted to eat the whole thing so bad, but I knew I couldn't. And I don't know if the pasta is homemade or not, but it sure tasted like it. My husband got the Shrimp Provencale which he enjoyed a lot. I snuck a little bite, and the cream sauce was very light, not heavy like an alfredo. Super yummy. We also got a side of the meatballs just to try them out. Now these were absolute stunners. If you're not going to get this as your entree, at least get a side (you get two) because you do not want to miss it. Trust me. Last but not least, dessert. We saved room somehow. Decided to go traditional with the Tiramisu. Very creamy, not too espresso-y (for those that don't like the coffee taste), and was the perfect Italian ending. However, our table neighbors had a lemon ice box cake that they were making smacking food noises over, so we're thinking next time we're getting that. All in all, a great meal. Was it worth the hour wait? For me, yes. For my husband, yes. For you? Hopefully, (most likely) yes.

Ermelio's was exactly what I expected. The setting was neat and comfortable, the service quick, friendly and courteous, and the food was excellent. My wife had the Tuscan Chicken, the chicken was excellent with a light, crispy crust and was done but still moist and succulent. The sauce was creamy and rich. I had Prima Vera, it was excellent. In both cases the pasta was perfectly done. We split a Tiramisu for dessert, excellent. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is that I wasn't surprised at the experience; for the price and setting and previous reviews it was, as I said at the beginning, exactly what I expected, which is a high praise. I would heartily recommend Ermelio's to anyone.

We had a group of 8 and had to wait 45 minutes, which isn't bad because the drinks were flowing in the upstairs bar area. The upstairs bar had an assortment if childhood and adult board games, which helped pas the time. We got seated at our table and we were hammered drunk, but the waiter was very patient with us and he was hilarious. I ordered the Tuscan chicken which was amazing they start off with fresh bread and butter and garlic slices that you mash with the butter to make a spread. My wife got the shrimp . I heard no complaints so that's a plus. My buddy said the pork chop was amazing and it was actually waiter recommended. The cheese tortaleni (bad spelling) looks delicious. The bill was large but our bellies were full

I loved the setting. The restaurant is in a small house with a cozy atmosphere. I ordered the Ravioli with tomato basil sauce, and the flavor was excellent! The owner was very friendly and offered us drinks while we waited. The lady who served us was also friendly. I would recommend checking out this place while in Eureka Springs!

I'll circumvent the globe a few times this year, like every year...and eat at more than my share of upscale restaurants. Let's start with...they're only open from 5 PM to 9 PM, they don't take reservations, so get here early or hang out on the porch (with a cocktail). An attentive staff. The food: Better than the best place on St. Louis' (Italian) Hill. Underpriced for the quality (Yes, I said it and that's a first). Very pleased. Would drive hours out of my way to dine here.

  • Terrill W.

How can a place this small yet this popular not accept reservations? Was told that there would be a THREE hour wait to eat. We opted to go to Branson because we may have been hungry but we weren't "wait three hours to even get a table" hungry.

This our third visit. We really looked forward to a fine authentic Italian meal. Much to our surprise the meal was less than average. It was very bland. We arrived right at opening yet had to wait about 15 minutes for drinks and to place our order. Probably wont make another visit here.

    (1)
  • Danielle S.

Well, I can see I'm in the minority here but I really don't understand what everyone is raving about. I had tortellini with alfredo; my husband had tortellini with the marinara/meatballs; and my mom had the lasagna (special that day) and we all pretty much said "eh, it was fine." Honestly, I don't think store bought pasta and sauce would be too many notches below. We got there almost at 5:00 so didn't wait long. If we had though, I would've been much more irritated about the experience.

For our second of two honeymoon dinners in Eureka Springs, my dreamy husband and I invited local friends from our wedding party to Ermilios for a post-wedding celebratory dinner. We were seated immediately on Monday night (8pm) and service was pretty good throughout the night. Our server was efficient if not super friendly. The bread/garlic was very good. I asked for a sample of the gorgonzola sauce, and dipping the bread in it was a good call. Do that. My Caesar salad (you may have noticed I have a thing for Caesars by now) was very good--better than the average house salad everyone else got. I WAS happy to note, however, that there was no iceberg lettuce in the house salad! Take note, Northeast Oklahoma restaurants! The boys had the steak special. My husband used his fingers to eat it--that's always a good sign. I stole all the veggies off his plate because they were AMAZING. My favorite part of the meal, to be honest. Perfectly cooked and very good flavor. I had the gnocchi with BOTH the tomato basil AND the gorgonzola sauce. That's right. Both. I was super pumped about that, but honestly it wasn't as flavorful as I had hoped. It was a bit of a letdown. It wasn't bad, just wasn't great. Seriously, though, the veggies were really yummy so I was ok with it. Cozy restaurant, efficient service, good food, you will leave with leftovers. Good place for dinner with friends.

Great decor, service and food. This place is located in an old house in a residential neighborhood off the beaten path. If you're looking for some adventure good food and great service, give this place a try. We have been here twice and loved it.

Same as everyone else, all we heard was go to Ermilio's. Out of all of the times we have been to Eureka, we have never went until now. My wife and I along with my Cousin and his wife went, and would certainly go back again. Again the same, we waited just over an hour before we were seated. The staff was great, Our waiter was very knowledgeable of the menu and friendly to boot. One of the specials this night was portobello stuffed ravioli, which I ordered with alfredo sauce (waiter recommended). My Wife had the fettuccine alfredo, My Cousin had spaghetti with meatballs, and his Wife had tortellini with alfredo. Everyone loved their meal and had nothing negative to say. Give it a shot if you get the chance, and have an hour to wait, It's worth it.

Terribly long wait, understaffed, and the patrons were rude fat pigs. I was also told about the restaurant having patrons take their dessert outside to open up tables. Very crowded and quite tense atmosphere.

I came with high hopes and left disappointed. Bottom line: it's a charming place with disappointing food and, in my case, so-so service. The aesthetic fits nicely into the Eureka scene - a little house, open 5-9, no reservations. You can go upstairs to play cards or games and have a drink as you wait. We did so and had a nice time. Then we were brought to dinner. If I had to guess, I would say our waitress is normally pleasant but was having a bad night. In all events, our service was not very warm. The system for the pasta is to pick a sauce and then a base pasta, and they'll combine the two and bring the result out with complimentary garlic bread and salads. The garlic bread was excellent - a bowl of roasted garlic and a basket of warm bread to spread it on. The salad was the low point. It was entirely comprised of (1) a handful of bagged salad mix from the store (greens + matchstick carrots), (2) one grape tomato, and (3) a smear of Italian dressing. I ordered pesto spaghetti with a side of meatballs. First the wrong dish was brought out, but that error was quickly remedied and I don't hold it against them. The spaghetti pasta was good, but the pesto sauce and meatballs were mediocre. I have had handmade meatballs before and these did not compare. They were a little small, and nothing special to taste. The pesto sauce just wasn't good - I typically enjoy homemade pesto, but in this case I prefer what I get in a jar from the supermarket. I think it's a quaint little place, but so is everything in Eureka. Next time I will dine somewhere else.

We came in later Friday night Valentine weekend with Mardi Gras happening. So we knew there would be a long wait with no reservations. No problem. Upstairs to the game room and bar. It's like the kids extra room with lots of board games and plenty of seating and new faces inviting you to play and make conversation while the cocktails flow albeit not freely. My two double Jameson and the misses Chardonnay prices were silly but we were there to let worries go and enjoy the experience. We got aquatinted with #nicholasfound from Australia and his girl from England checking out Merica from top to bottom. He like little people too and promised to meet me at the local guitar store to see the magic one that lives here probably employed by a wizard on the side. Once we were called to the candlelit cozy table for two we were starving for the complimentary baked bread and a mountain of hot spreadable garlic sure to bring on the make out session I'm sure Misty was ready for. Great Italian sausage, meatballs, risotto, chicken Parmesan with fettucinne Alfredo. Yes. You can eat very well here. You see my stars. If only they had crispy fried calamari for an appetizer there would be no choice but to hang the last star upon this feast. Check this place out while here in Eureka. Follow the adventures of nickfound.com and have fun on Valentine's Day. I didn't have a small fridge in my room so I just am sitting here enjoying the Italian food leftover smell from having the box out in here all night. I think that's the box and not me anyway. I'll ask my bride. It's our one year anniversary and I'm sure she can be honest with me.

Oh Ermilio. I wanted to love you like I love the rest of Eureka Springs. Sigh. I really did but you are just not the man for me! You walk in the front door and are shuffled upstairs to a weird little attic-y "lounge"... where a makeshift bar is set up. Warning... this upstairs bar is cash only! (There is an ATM upstairs though). We settled on a glass (ok, no glass... everything was served in those tiny plastic cups... FAIL) of Malbec. Seriously? $9.50 for a couple of ounces of grocery store wine? The gf got a White Russian that was spot on though. Plenty o' alcohol for her $10 drink! We had a seat and played a little Trival Pursuit while we waited... only a few minutes. We arrived around 5:30 and waited about 20 minutes... however, the crowd started arriving shortly thereafter. We were then ushered into a tight fitting dining room with super weird chairs. Not comfy at all. The menu was about as basic as it could be. Pick a pasta, pick a sauce. A handful of "specialties"... um... Macaroni Grill has a better selection. I woulda been a-ok with leaving right then. Then the bread and fresh roasted garlic arrived. Ok, now we are talking. Super yummy. This saved you, Ermilio, this saved you. Stuffed mushroom app... 4 medium sized mushroom caps. $12 I think. Um. Rip off. We make way better at home. We order shrimp fett alfredo and some shrimp specialty. They tasted almost exactly the same except hers came with a side... a super duper wimpy side of "roasted veggies'... ie. about three green beans and a stalk of asparagus. I was charged an extra $6 for four small shrimp that made my fett alfredo, "shrimp alfredo'. My sauce was clumpy and greasy. I ordered a side of red sauce and that helped a bit. We got a slice of Italian wedding cake to go. That ended up being pretty good though. All in all, this place is meh. What concerns me more than the mediocre tasting food was that BOTH of us got very sick after we got back to our cottage that night. I hate to blame you, Ermilio, but I kinda doubt it was the breakfast sandwich we had 12 hours ago at Mudd Street Cafe! Tooooo many other fantastic places in Eureka Springs to chow down at!!

We have been coming here for several years. The quality of the food has been on a downhill slide. They advertised a new chef, so we tried it one more time. No more. The dining area used to be roomy enough to enjoy your meal. Now they have added several more tables and everyone is elbow to elbow. Very uncomfortable. The food is no better than a frozen TV dinner. I will miss what used to be a great dining experience.

Our favorite Italian restaurant in town. FYI the pork chop is to die for! Lovely intimate setting in a Victorian. Love the build your own pastas. There is almost always a wait so allow time and don't be in a hurry. Great things are worth waiting for :)

I really wanted to give the place 4 stars for the quaintness of the place, but the good doesn't match up. It's not bad, but definitely not something you're going to say mama Mia about. It's also quite crowded, so be prepared to have someone's ass rub across you at some point during your meal. Had to wait over and hour for the meal and it's just not worth that kind of wait.

This little house packs 'em in and there's a reason. Good all around. Closes at 9 and packed at 8:30 with everyone running around. 20-30 min wait and we were offered the upstairs lounge. Sure the second floor bar is closed on weekdays but you can preorder and they will bring it up. Settle and play Connect Four, Chinese Checkers, Tic Tac Toe and some other games while you wait. The service was what I would expect from a small town. Friendly! Our party of 6 of whom 4 were first timers, settled mostly on the lasagna and no one left hungry. A good portion that warms the cockles. Good eats. I'm very please we were introduced to Ermilio's Italian Home Cooking and the next time I'm rolling through town, I'll be sure to swing in.

People rave about the roasted garlic and bread. They didn't remove the root of the clove, and it was under-roasted. I have had very good Italian where the garlic spreads like butter and you eat too much bread because it is so good. My meatballs were basically balled up Italian sausage. The sauce lacked depth of flavor. My wife's shrimp was so over cooked it was inedible to me. They sat us at a table by the kitchen door where my wife had to block in the table next to us and I had to worry about getting hit by the kitchen door. I personally think the decor was bad. Vertical black and white striped walls when you enter. Black and white pictures everywhere but no indication of their importance. I have ate at many Italian restaurants, and this one was nothing special. I would not go back.

This was the best food ever! While you wait you can play board games and have drinks. Great atmosphere and the people are so nice! I am in love with this place!

This is a nice place to eat. Staff was nice and the tuna appetizer was good. Salad was mediocre, entrees were alright. I think the ravioli is frozen. The shrimp scampi was watered down and over priced. They had good wine, and the espresso and Italian cream cake was delicious. You will have to wait for an hour if you don't have reservations.

I had dinner at Ermilio's about 10 years ago while driving through Arkansas. I didn't think I'd be back. Well, it's 10 years later and I still remember the meal I had at this restaurant as one of the best! Returning with the hubby, who wasn't with me 10 years ago, I was concerned that it either wouldn't be as good as I remembered or wouldn't be in business. You know what they say about not being able to go back again! Thankfully I was wrong on both counts! The familiar smell of garlic welcomed us as we walked in. The walls covered with family photos greeted us like a member of the family. The food, just as delicious and tastefully prepared as I remember. The service was superb. Thank you Ermilio's!

I am fully convinced that people just have no idea what GOOD food is anymore. People were waiting in line to get in (us included) and the food was simply awful! Let's start with the pasta. NONE of it is made here. That's right, their cooks cannot put together flour and eggs - the most basic of recipes! They rip open a cellophane package of Lord-knows-how-old-pre-made pasta and call it "Italian Home Cooking". That wouldn't be so bad if they could actually do that right, but they manage to screw it up pretty badly. Seriously: four out of four at our table received a dish of cold to lukewarm pasta with miniscule amounts of lukewarm sauce, which I imagine was canned or frozen. Pathetic...absolutely pathetic! They serve "fresh" bread, which I will assume is purchased elsewhere and reheated in their kitchen. Whatever the case may be, this bread was the only decent thing served to us. They also include a dish of roasted garlic cloves to mash up with butter and spread on the bread. A nice touch, when the garlic is actually hot. We requested a second dish and it was served cold! Imagine a dish full of cold garlic cloves swimming in oil. Appetizing? Not in the slightest. Luckily the Ermilio's kitchen staff is handy with a microwave and warmed it right up for us. Praise where praise is due, the meat portions of our entrees were served warm and seasoned properly. They should learn how easy this would be to accomplish with pasta! Bottom line - this is most certainly not Italian Home Cooking. Not even close. Please, do yourself a favor and go to one of the other amazing restaurants Eureka Springs has to offer. However, if you like to wait in line for mediocre, pre-made pasta, served cold with room temperature sauce then this is your place!!

We were a party of 5 on a Saturday night, there was an hour wait but it was so worth it! There is a bar upstairs where they have many games to play while you wait, there is also a very nice patio area. The food was so amazing and the portions were excellent. The wait staff was also incredible, every person I'm that restaurant made sure we were enjoying our meal and always had full beverages. I will absolutely make this my go to restaurant in eureka!

Not terrible. Flies in the restaurant. Must arrive at 5pm to get a table without a ridiculous 1hr wait. Nice upstairs lounge area with free board games and small bar. Food is ok, nothing to write home about. Waitresses are friendly and homey.

Well I must say that the countless other reviews are spot on. The wait is ridiculous. One hour and thirty minutes. That being said: the food is very good. I had the pork chop just hoping to get a dry flavourless piece of meat. It didn't happen. It was awesome and the demi was excellent. The red sauce that accompanied the pasta side was sweet and well executed. My lovely wife had a shrimp and pasta dish that was equally as well received. The shrimp were cooked perfectly, they had a great snap to them and were lightly seasoned. The mussels appetizer was well done. The roasted garlic with the bread service was a nice touch and went well with the briny ubiquitous liquid left from cooking the mussels. The ambiance was open and the general feel of the place was fairly upbeat. Our server was very energetic and knowledgeable but they should lose the T shirts as a uniform, the food, chef, and customer deserve a better showing than dingy T shirts guys. Also the back waiter that was helping keep water and bread replenished was fantastic and very pleasant. I felt compelled to tip him separately. He is a keeper!!! I cannot speak for the old chef as a lot of the older reviews are steeped in nostalgia and such, but I know that the new chef at the helm deserves kudos for knocking out some great grub and in good time with such a cluster of an environment. Last negative: find a more efficient way to seat guests, the whole "screaming out customers names" thing is a bit elementary. Otherwise, thank you for a great experience.

Perfectly in disguise as a beautiful old hilltop home, this Italian kitchen welcomes and prepares just like the familia you always wanted. This place is a favorite for many reasons, not least of which is their menu of richly constructed pastas. The home allows seating upstairs and down, either of which are amazing and both of which should be tried. The family photos on the walls make diners feel a part of something timeless and essential. All of my waiters have been knowledgeable about their dishes, and when they can't answer a wine question they have always sought someone with the right stuff to answer my questions. My favorite dish is their gnocchi, which you can have almost any way you like it. Sometimes there is a wait for dinner, especially on high season weekends, but who wants to get in a rush on vacation? It's also an easy walk from the crescent...

We read reviews of Ermilio's before coming into town and were not disappointed. We were told there would be a 45 minute wait, as it was a Saturday night, and were told to check out the bar and lounge upstairs. It was great, with lots of seating and fun childhood games to play to help make the time pass. We opted for the Yahtzee and after only about 30 minutes we were shown to our table. Cliff was our waiter and he was very attentive and knowledge. When we asked him what other restaurants and attractions we should see he grabbed a map and was only too pleased to point out other areas of interest, all of which turned out to be highlights of our trip. We were both happy with what we ordered and felt like it was priced fairly. This is a quaint, relaxed restaurant that I would be happy to dine at again.

If you are looking for a great place to play games while waiting to get a table, this is your place. If you don't want to wait an hour for Italian food that could be ordered at practically any restaurant, then skip this place. I feel like it's almost an emperor's new clothes type thing going on here. Everyone in Eureka Springs raves about this place. You get to the restaurant and it's packed, with people waiting to get in. Presumably, the majority of these people are not repeat customers. You sit so long that you think, "This must certainly be worth the wait." You look around and assume that all these people are there for the amazing food. Alas, the food is not. The food, at best, was basic. It's not hard to cook pasta. Well, not that hard. The sauce was fine, but certainly not the best I've ever had. In fact, it was not even up to par with most places. Certainly nothing ordered was worth the hour and fifteen minute wait. There are mixed reviews, not only on yelp, but on yahoo and trip adviser. This is for a reason. People who live in Eureka Springs are enamored with Ermilios. Everyone else, with an Olive Garden nearby, knows better.

Came to this restaurant due to high reviews from other people, as well as a co-worker of mine insisting it was "the best italian food ever". When we walked into this renovated house-turned-restaurant, I immediately liked the ambiance. There was a large painting of the Mona Lisa outside, and after being told it would be a little over an hour wait, we had no problem sitting outside and enjoying the quaint decor outside. After awhile, we decided to go in and wait upstairs, as I had read there were board games upstairs and we are avid fans of board games. While playing Othello upstairs, the time immediately sped up and for a moment I almost forgot we were waiting to eat dinner, as it almost seemed like a little hangout spot upstairs to drink and play board games. Downstairs, we were sat in the corner. On this particular night, our waitress seemed a little frazzled, but she went over the menu and brought out fresh garlic and bread, both of which were good. I also liked that there was fresh Parmesan to use at our table. When they brought our order out, which came in a decent amount of time, I ordered the chicken Alfredo with spinach fettuccine, while my bf ordered tortellini with meatballs. Good thing he ordered extra meatballs because the servings were smaller than I expected them to be. The food was really good. Was it the best Italian I have ever had, as raved? No, but for the price and atmosphere, it was worth the visit and experience.

Love everything about this place. The atmosphere is great. Pasta is one of the cheapest foods out there. You can buy pasta for $1 to feed the entire family but chain restaurants think it's worth $13/plate. This is absolutely the only place I order pasta from. The food is excellent. The service is excellent. I have been coming for well over 10 years and I have never once been disappointed. They do get packed, so be prepared. I have waited 2 hours for a table before, but when you have good company and good drinks it's no problem. Besides, you're most likely on vacation, so who cares if dinner takes a few hours? What appointment are you trying to get to...after dark....in Eureka? Except maybe a bar which will still be open regardless what time dinner is over. Also, it is one of the few places in Eureka with a parking lot and consistantly open.

I went to this little place on my honeymoon, The cabin we were staying in gave us $50.00 voucher and we figured we would try it out. The first night we tried to go, there was a 2 hour wait, so we decided to come back the next night and come early. They start seating for dinner about 5pm so we get there about 4:45ish and wait. We were shown to an upstairs lounge area to wait for our table to be ready. There is a bar and some cute games to play with while you wait. Our waiter was super friendly and really helpful with our questions. We had the stuffed mushroom appetizer and the artichoke dip and both were amazing, I dont even like mushrooms and they were super good. They served us our salads, which were just your basic salad, so it was good, Our meal was terrific, I had the cheese ravioli and it was gooey and the sauce was the right amount of tart vs succulent. I loved it. My husband had a chicken breast with linguine and it was terrific as well. Parking is tight, and the wait is forever if you have no reservation, but it is totally worth it.

Food and service 5 stars only compliant is the size of the restaurant. Hard to navigate with a newborn in a carseat but we would for sure go back. We both had Parmesan chicken with Alfredo sauce instead of the meat sauce. Staff was very friendly and accommodating.

For Eureka Springs, this is pretty good. Beat just about everywhere else we ate, thats for sure. I like my pasta primavaria. They had actual fresh veggies (grilled squash, zuccini, mushrooms and stuff) and not frozen ones. So I was shocked and impressed with that! If I find myself in Eureka Springs again (and probably wont bother again...lets face it...its a dump) then I would go back to this place.

Local spot! Love Ermilio's! The complimentary bread and roasted garlic is amazing and then the food is always on par! I love the tortellini alfredo. The atmosphere is cozy. The wait is usually long, but it is worth it. You can have a glass of wine while you wait and enjoy the company on the porch. Relax, drink, eat and be merry!

We loved Ermilio's. Everything was very good, some things were excellent. It is hard to get in, so we went fairly late, after 8:15 p.m. We waited quite awhile to be seated and quite a bit longer to be served. The lasanga special was gone by the time we ordered. My dining partner had the Shrimp Provencale, and I had the oven-baked pork chop. We paid $3 extra for the Caesar Salad supplemental charge. First, you get warm, crusty-chewy homemade bread with butter and roasted garlic. You could live on this by itself. The Caesar Salad was as good as any I've ever tasted. A very garlic- and achovy-rich dressing made it memorable. The pork chop and shrimp main courses were very good, but not over the top. Portions were generous, and they were accompanied by sauced pasta and fresh green beans. We went to Ermilio's with the endorsement of some local people we met, and we agreed with their assessment. The food is very good to excellent, but the dining experience overall was encumbered by the difficulty of getting in and the fact that our server was a bit overwhelmed. She gave us some good guidance on our menu choices, for which we are always grateful. Still, the fact that the place was so busy is testimony to the quality of the food. It is not just a great place to eat, but a good value as well, even at $80 for two including wine.

This is one of my favorite Italian places in the country. I have been here many times over the last decade+. The casual uniquely Eureka Springs Vibe is very present here. Take time to go to the top floor of the old house and enjoy a Peroni or a glass of red. Usually in season there is a wait, so you will more than likely get that chance. I've never had a bad meal there. Roasted garlic with you bread and butter. A chefs special every night. And the menu is solid with old and new school offerings. Food and service were good but not the best I've had, for sure. I had the chicken marsala and my husband had spaghetti. He felt the meat sauce on the spaghetti was much too sweet. My marsala sauce was good, but too thin and watery. I am used to a creamier marsala sause that coats the meat better. One thing I will brag about is their italian cream cake that I had for dessert. It was out of this world good.

Ermilio's is one of my favorite places to go for relaxed, romantic atmosphere and delicious food. It's a small restaurant and fills up quickly, so it's best to arrive before they open (at 5pm, I believe). The pasta is always good - fresh and cooked perfectly al dente. The Primivera is my favorite. Light and flavorful. Service is great and dishes are reasonably priced.

I would give Ermilio's 6 stars if I could. It is the BEST Italian food I have had anywhere. I traveled there occasionally from Springfield, Missouri, but moved to South Dakota last year and miss this place greatly. My all-time favorite is the cheese-stuffed ravioloi, which I had with meatballs. The meatballs are very large and delicious. The service is good. Ermilio's is worth the wait. I reccomend showing up early, as it is usually packed by the time it opens. Ermilio's is also affordably priced, much cheaper (and better) than Olive Garden, which I also love. The portions are not HUGE, which justifies the price difference, but if you eat bread they are perfect for me. Don't expect leftovers, and if you're a 200 lb. + man, you may want to get an entree with extra meat. Still, totally worth it and wish I could eat here again.

Surprisingly volatile in terms on quality. I ate there several times, and my experiences range from really good (classic tasty Italian pasta cuisine) to quite disappointing (pasta almost completely cold, cream on tiramisu sour). The restaurant itself is typically crowded and noisy. When waiting for the table, ask to be seated in the main room. The small side room is right next to the kitchen, and sitting that close to the revolving door is not particularly pleasant..

Their loss!

Not terrible. Flies in the restaurant. Must arrive at 5pm to get a table without a ridiculous 1hr wait. Nice upstairs lounge area with free board games and small bar. Food is ok, nothing to write home about. Waitresses are friendly and homey.

  • Fairey F.

The wait was long but we met some nice people upstairs while we waited. The Food was unbelievably good and the price was not through the roof expensive. Definitely worth the wait and the money. Great staff, attentive and thoughtful.

Ambiance 10 Food 9.5 Beer selection 4 Wine selection 7

Their loss!

Not terrible. Flies in the restaurant. Must arrive at 5pm to get a table without a ridiculous 1hr wait. Nice upstairs lounge area with free board games and small bar. Food is ok, nothing to write home about. Waitresses are friendly and homey.

  • Tom R.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
